Rock Island Labor Day Parade

Businesses, unions and non-profit groups will be among those marching in local parades paying tribute to America’s workforce on Labor Day, September 2, 2013.

The Quad City Labor Day Parade Alliance will hold its 30th Annual Labor Day Parade in East Moline.  The parade begins at 11 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at John Deere Harvester Works at 1100 13th Avenue.  The parade route travels south on 13th Street to 15th Avenue where it turns right and heads west to Third Street.  It then turns right again, traveling to 12th avenue where it turns right to Seventh Street; then north on Seventh to Beacon Harbor, continues to Harvest Way and returns to the John Deere Harvester Works lot.

After the parade a Salute to Labor Day Chicken Fry will be held at Illiniwek Park from 11:30 – 3 p.m. Picnic tickets can be purchased at the event and are $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12.

The 29th Annual Rock Island Labor Day Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 2.  The parade will include more than 150 registered entries, with a theme centered on what residents and businesses think should be celebrated in our community.  Two bands on rolling flatbed stages, as well as several area high school marching bands and youth programs, will be part of this year’s parade.
