A two-year-old appeared to be unharmed after firefighters pulled the child from a home where the kitchen was on fire.
The fire was reported around 8 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at a duplex home in the 1600 block of West 7th Street in Davenport, Iowa.
Initial reports indicated a child might be trapped inside the home. A city spokesperson said a two-year-old was rescued from the second-story window of the home. The child appeared to be fine but was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
One firefighter was reportedly injured during the rescue. He was released from a local hospital after being treated for his injuries.
Firefighters said they were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and that damage was confined to the kitchen.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross responded to help coordinate assistance for those affected by the fire.
