Heat adds to firefighting challenge in Moline

Heavy fire and smoke poured from the roof of a Moline house on Friday, August 30, 2013.

Heavy flames and smoke were visible for several blocks from the burning home in the 5400 block of Third Avenue.

Firefighters working to control the blaze also fought temperatures that were already in the upper 80s by mid-morning.

No injuries were immediately reported.

Volunteers from the American Red Cross responded to offer help with food, shelter, clothing and emotional support to those affected by the fire.
