The head varsity boys' basketball coach at Davenport North High School faced felony charges after he was accused of having sexual contact with a student.

Jail records show 37-year-old Daniel Schneiderman was booked in to the Scott County Jail just after 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013.  He was facing charges of third-degree sex abuse, sexual exploitation by a counselor, and a third unknown charge.

All three counts are felonies.

An affidavit filed with Scott County District Court in connection with the case alleges Schneiderman had an "inappropriate relationship" with a girl for more than two years, and that the relationship began in 2011 when the girl was 14 years old.

Schneiderman is also accused of exchanging sexually explicit text messages with the victim and of using his cell phone to send a picture of his genitalia to the victim's cell phone.  The affidavit said Schneiderman made sexually explicit comments to the victim during school as well.

The affidavit charges Schneiderman with one count of telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor, one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee and one count of third-degree sexual abuse.

Jail records showed Schneiderman was held in lieu of $10,000 bond.

He was still listed on the staff according to the school's website.  The site lists Schneiderman as a special education teacher and head coach of the boys' varsity basketball team.
