An Iowa man has been sentenced to more than ten years in prison after arranging a meeting with an agent posing as a minor he met online.
According to the U.S. Attorney, Nicholas Klinefeldt, 53-year-old Steven William Bentley was sentenced to 10 years and 1 month in prison for attempted enticement of a minor.
Police said Bentley, a self-employed businessman, chatted online with an agent posing as a young girl. The agent was from the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Bentley arranged a meeting in Eldridge, Iowa with the believed minor in July of 2012, but the meeting didn’t happen. Police said Bentley returned less than a week later to meet the supposed minor and was arrested shortly after he arrived to the meeting spot.
After Bentley’s release from prison, he is ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release and must pay $100 toward the Crime Victims Fund.
