The City of Davenport has agreed to pay owners of a strip club $270,000 to settle a lawsuit that was headed to trial in federal court next month.

The tentative deal still has to be signed by both parties, according to Davenport Alderman Bill Boom.

The legal battle stems back to 2009, after the city shut down the Chorus Line strip club over an alleged ordinance violation. The tentative settlement comes three weeks before the two sides were scheduled for a September 18th trial.

On August 2nd, a federal judge ruled in favor of potential damages for Chorus Line, prompting the city's decision to settle. In 2010, a Circuit Court judge ruled that Chorus Line had a legal right to operate, and the next year, an Iowa Appeals court affirmed that ruling.
