Galva man killed in head-on crash

A 21-year-old Galva, Illinois man died when the car he was driving collided head-on with a semi.

Police said the semi tractor-trailer was westbound on Route 34 near 1850E when it collided head-on with an eastbound Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Jacop Grabbe of Galva just after 1 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013.

Police said Grabbe’s vehicle drifted over the center line and collided with the westbound semi.

Grabbe, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The semi driver, a 47-year-old man from South Carolina, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
