The body of a West Liberty, Iowa man was found in a wrecked vehicle that was submerged in Wapsinonoc Creek.

A spokesman for the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the body of 35-year-old Rafael Jacobo-Bernabein a vehicle that was upside down and submerged in the creek near the 1600 block of 115th Street in West Liberty at about 7 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Crash investigators determined Jacobo-Bernabe was westbound on 115th Street when he apparently lost control of his vehicle.  The vehicle struck a tree and ended up in the creek.

Police said the last time Jacobo-Bernabe was seen before the crash was about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Investigators said they though alcohol was a contributing factor in the wreck.
