Sterling residence and business burglarized

Two burglaries, one that happened in a home and another that took place in a business in August 2013 are being investigated.

According to the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, the first burglary happened around August 5 at a home in Sterling. In this burglary, power tools were taken from a construction company’s trailer. Police said power tools were also taken from a garage during the same burglary.

The second burglary happened at a business in Sterling on Thursday, August 22, said police. A safe was stolen from the business sometime during the night.

These burglaries came after a string of burglaries in July 2013 in Dixon.
