A local fire department is receiving over $400,000 in funding which will be used to replace equipment.

According to the office of Congressman Dave Loebsack, the Clinton Fire Department has been chosen to get $448,153 from the Department of Homeland Security’s Port Security Grant Program. The money was competitively awarded.

The department will put the money to use by replacing a Fire and Rescue boat, according to a spokesperson from the house.

Loebsack said he is happy the Clinton Fire Department is receiving the money. He said this grant will “ensure they have the proper equipment to respond to all disasters and allow them to continue to keep our river safe and commerce flowing.”
