Two students reported separate incidents of frightening contact with adults as they walked to school Friday, August 23, 2013.

When she arrived at Wilson Middle School, a girl reported a man dressed wearing a blonde wig and women's clothing approached her as she walked to school near 53rd Street and 12th Avenue.  Police said the girl was "alarmed and disturbed by the male based on his state of dress, odd behavior and statements made."    Police found 23-year-old Derek Argo walking in the 3000 block of 12th Avenue.  Argo was arrested and accused of disorderly conduct in connection with the girl's report.  Argo was held in the Rock Island County Jail.

A girl on her way to John Deere Middle School reported a man walking in the opposite direction reached around and grabbed her as he walked past her in the 1400 block of 19th Avenue.  The man then ran reportedly ran away.  Police said the man was described as tall and thin, possibly in his twenties, wearing a black and white bandana, blue jeans and a black or gray shirt.  The girl was not injured, and she reported the incident when she arrived at school.

Police said the Moline School District was notifying parents of the incidents and that police will increase patrols in the area of Moline schools.
