Memorial wall stationed in Davenport

A memorial honoring fallen servicemen and women is on display in Davenport for a weekend.

The Mississippi Valley Patriots held its 10th annual Tribute to our Fallen at Davenport Memorial Park on Friday, August 23, 2013.

The traveling wall is available for people to visit through Sunday afternoon. On Sunday a closing ceremony will wrap-up its stay in Davenport. The display is open 24-hours a day.

Along with activities, the free three-day event features the memorial wall for Illinois and Iowa soldiers and a banner naming all of the victims killed in the September 11 attacks.

Member of the Mississippi Valley Patriots, Annette Wood said the memorial is a reminder to people that freedom isn’t free.

“We have over 6,000 names of people that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can go about our day and not have to worry about anything,” Wood said.
