A Burlington teacher was found not guilty of falsifying information about a threat that led to a school lockdown.
Lauren Moyers was accused in February 2013 of falsely reporting she found a note that threatened a possible shooting at Black Hawk Elementary School in Burlington. The school was locked down.
Moyers was charged with misdemeanor providing a false report to law enforcement authorities after she changed her story and admitted the note was found in her classroom instead of in the hallway.
Moyers was initially placed on paid administrative leave from her job as a fifth grade teacher. She was dismissed from that job in May 2013.
Online court records show Moyers was found not guilty August 21, 2013 in Des Moines County, Iowa Court. The judge presiding over the case reportedly found that, although she lied about where the note was found, her actions did not amount to filing a false report.
