Analysts with ValuePenguin, a consumer finance website have ranked the best locations for teachers, and out of a list of 20, Davenport – Moline – Rock Island has ranked number nine.

According to analysts, the list was constructed based on median salaries, employment concentration of the profession, and cost of living.

Topping the list is Bay City, Michigan, where the median salary was $64,220 in 2012. ValuePenguin said that the salary was the primary factor used in the study. In the Midwest, analysts said the lowest median salary was found in Jefferson City, Missouri and the highest was in the metropolitan area of Milwaukee – Waukesha – West Allis.

Rockford, Illinois was ranked at number five, with a median salary of $56,200. Analysts said that Rockford Public School District is the largest employer in the city.
