Old Davenport school turned into senior living apartments

An old Davenport School has been renovated and re-opened, no longer to educate, but to house.

An old Davenport School has been renovated and re-opened, no longer to educate, but to house.

After $11 million in improvements, Jackson School # 6 opened up on Thursday, August 22, 2013 with 48 apartments for people 55 years and older. The 120-year-old building opened its doors as the Jackson Renaissance.

“Part of what's happened in this day and age, seems to be a very huge loss of respect and consideration for our seniors,” said President of Renaissance Companies, Nancy Kapp.

Kapp said the project has in some way restored respect for seniors.

The apartments offer affordable rent starting at $455 per month. Applications are now available.
