The Iowa State Fair organizers may have the last laugh over vandals that struck the Butter Cow display at the 2013 fair.

The iconic butter cow was vandalized with red paint on the sculpture and on the display window Saturday night, August 10, 2013.  The damage was cleaned up before the fair reopened to the public the next morning.  Iowans for Animal Liberation took responsibility for the vandalism, sending photos of their damage to media outlets across the state.

Now, the fair is cashing in on the vandalism by selling yellow Butter Cow Security t-shirts, designed by a Des Moines company.  More than 3,000 of the shirts were sold at the fair, and they’ll continue to be available online.
