Shooting reported in The District was not a shooting

Rock Island Police said firecrackers, and not shots fired, scattered a crowd and brought emergency responders to The District.

Police were called to a reported shooting at about 3 a.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 in the area of 18th Street and Second Avenue.

Police did not find a victim and did not make any arrests.

The day after the shooting, police said they determined the sound was of fireworks and not of gunfire.

Two hours earlier, a "shots fired" call was also reported in Moline.
