The 55th Annual Air and Water Show is going on this weekend in Chicago, but in East Moline there's another show on a much smaller scale... literally.

On Sunday, August 18th, 2013, the Quad Cities Skyraiders held their 12th Annual Float Fly on Campbell's Island in East Moline.

Participants flew their radio-controlled planes off the water instead of land, which organizers say can be challenging.

"I always tell the guys 'If you can fly off land, you can fly off water,'" says Rick Haney, President of Quad Cities Skyraiders. "The only thing is you can't walk out to get it if it quits on you."

A lot of participants build their mini air crafts and say it can take a long time before they're complete.

"Some of them you can build in a couple weeks," says Haney. "Some take a couple years. It all depends on how much you want to put into it."

The Quad Cities Skyraiders was formed in the early 1990s. Their next "Fly" will take place in Davenport on September 7th in Norma Frye Field.
