The Quad City International Airport in Moline will be receiving improvements costing millions of dollars.
Governor Pat Quinn announced the $4 million investment into the airport on Thursday, August 15, 2013. The investment is part of the Illinois Jobs Now! construction program.
Construction improvements will include the installation of runway guard lights – which will be done by J.F. Edwards Construction Co. out of Geneseo. Other improvements will include site work at the snow removal equipment building expansion, construction of south service road, and the first phase of the south ramp expansion will be completed by McCarthy Improvement Co.
Illinois State Senator, Mike Jacobs from Moline, said the investment will create jobs for area residents.
“In addition to jobs, these improvements to our local infrastructure will help bring economic development to the region,” said Jacobs.
Quinn said the work on the airport will increase efficiency and safety, while creating construction jobs.
