A 52-year-old Iowa woman is celebrating her twin granddaughters turning one month old, after giving birth to them as the surrogate mother in July.

According to a report by the Clarion Ledger, when Susie Kozisek learned that her daughter and son-in-law could not have kids, she offered up her womb.

The Iowa grandmother learned of surrogacy after seeing it on a talk show a few years ago.

Using an egg from her daughter, and her son-in-law’s seed, Kozisek gave birth to her daughter’s first child, two years ago. On July 15, 2013 the grandmother gave birth again, this time to her daughter and son-in-law’s twin girls.

Kozisek said she wanted to help her daughter start a family, and is happy to be a grandma.
