A Sterling, Illinois man was arrested for allegedly selling cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school.

According to the Sterling Police Department, 22-year-old Christopher M. Surdez was arrested on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 and has been charged with selling less than one gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of Rock Falls High School.

Police say March of 2013 is when the offense occurred.

Surdez was taken to the Whiteside County Jail.
