Rock Island vandals caught on camera

A downtown Rock Island business owner is now asking for the public’s help to catch the two people who vandalized his building.

A downtown Rock Island business owner is now asking for the public's help to catch the two people who vandalized his building over the weekend. The owner believes the two men came in through a window on the second floor, not realizing they were being filmed the whole time.

"I was called by Per Mar at approximately 1:00 o'clock in the morning and they told me that a fire had broken out in the building, of course immediate panic set in," said Michael Stern whose building was vandalized.

However, he soon found out there wasn't a fire and that two men climbed in through a window early Sunday morning, August 11, 2013.

In the surveillance video the two men walk in the break room. One of them then walks out with a fire extinguisher, which they then used to spray all over the room, even damaging the restroom.

You also see one of them run down the stairs, the alarm then goes off and the second man follows behind, both exiting through the front door.

"Maybe it was a prank, it's not funny, it's not cute," said Michael.

Michael is now asking for the public's help to put some names with the faces.

"It's just heartbreaking you know, you work so hard to make things nice for people," said Michael.

Michael thinks there's a few thousand dollars worth of damages. Anyone who knows the guys caught on camera can call the Rock Island County police or can call/text Michael directly at (309) 314-3372. He announced on Tuesday, August 13 that he is offering a reward to anyone who can identify the two men in the surveillance video.
