Bicyclist dragged a block in Avenue of the Cities wreck

A bicyclist was dragged about 100 yards after he was hit by a car on Avenue of the Cities in Moline.

A wreck involving a vehicle and a person closed Avenue of the Cities near HyVee in Moline.

The wreck was reported just after 11 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 near the HyVee store at 4218 Avenue of the Cities.  Initial reports indicated a pedestrian or bicyclist was possibly struck and then dragged by a vehicle near the store.

Police later said the bicycle was eastbound on the sidewalk in front of the Aldi store at 4211 Avenue of the Cities when it was hit by a car as the vehicle turned onto Avenue of the Cities.  The car continued east on Avenue of the Cities, dragging the bicycle, and 22-year-old Devon M. Farrier, who was riding it, for about 100 yards before it stopped.

Farrier was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City. His condition is unknown

The driver of the car was reportedly not hurt.
