A Morrison, Illinois man is accused of using a knife to force an employee to open the cash register during a robbery at a local convenience store.
Police said the Casey's General Store at 602 East Lincolnway in Morrison was robbed at about 3 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2013. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived.
Police said a man wearing a hooded jacket, a mask and socks on his hands went into the store and had a brief confrontation with a store employee before the suspect showed a knife and forced the employee to open the cash register.
The suspect allegedly took the entire cash drawer, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled.
Five hours later, police arrested 26-year-old Tyler Engelkins of Morrison. Engelkins was charged with armed robbery. He was held in the Whiteside County Jail.
