Valuable coins stolen from Galena antique store

Many valuable coins were allegedly stolen from an Antique store in Galena.

According to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s office, a burglary occurred sometime between late evening on Thursday, August 1 to early morning on Friday, August 2. The person or people who committed the burglary forced their way into the building.

Police say among the stolen coins are several Morgan and Peace dollar coins, premium pype coins, valuable half cents, 2-cent pieces, nickels, dimes, quarters, and halves.

Police are asking anyone with information is asked to call the Dubuque/Jo Daviess Crime Stoppers at 800-747-0117. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest or recovery of the coins could receive an award of up to $1,000.
