One of NASCAR’s biggest names is in an Iowa hospital after a crash at an Oskaloosa track Monday night.

Stewart was leading the 30-lap Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway when he got caught up in a four car crash.

Stewart’s business manager Eddie Jarvis said Stewart was alert and talking when he was taken off the track on a stretcher.

Stewart-Haas Racing says the NASCAR Champion had surgery on his right leg for a broken tibia and fibula.

They will update fans on his condition later this afternoon.

This is Stewart’s third non-NASCAR crash in the past month.

A test run scheduled for Tuesday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway has been canceled and a replacement driver for this weekend’s race at Watkins Glen has not been named.
