A wreck involving a train blocked part of N. Fairmount Street south of Hickory Grove Road in Davenport, Iowa.

The wreck was reported just before 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2013.

Initial reports indicated a semi may have collided with a train, resulting in a possible diesel fuel leak at the scene of the crash.

Police later confirmed a Canadian Pacific Railroad truck, equipped with rail wheels, was on the tracks.  The driver was getting directions from his dispatcher to the nearest junction where he could get off the tracks when the truck was hit by a slow-moving train.

The small train, which consisted of an engine and three box cars, is owned by Iowa Interstate Rail.

Emergency vehicles periodically blocked lanes of N. Fairmount Street as crews worked to investigate and clear the wreckage.  Police said traffic was backed up for about 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported.
