Over $2 million in grant money will be given to Galesburg, Illinois and Rock Island, Illinois to improve the cities’ transportation, according to the communications director for Congresswoman Cheri Bustos.

Galesburg will receive $1,126,556 from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration, as part of the Clean Fuels Grant Program.

For Rock Island’s MetroLINK, the city will get $1,001,644 from the transit administration.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos said that for both cities, the grants will help their transportation needs while switching from diesel vehicles to cleaner, hybrid-electric vehicles.
