A project that will involve a street closure is scheduled to start Monday, August 5, 2013, weather permitting.
According to the City of East Moline, 3rd Street from 17th Ave. to Kennedy Drive will be closed to through-traffic. The public is advised to avoid the street altogether, unless access to a residence is absolutely necessary.
The several-month-long project will include new street pavement, driveway approaches, sidewalks, improvements to sanitary sewer and drainage facilities, and the replacement of water mains. Also to be replaced are the private water service pipes up to the public property line.
The majority of the work is expected to be completed by December.
