An injured man was pulled out of the Rock River in Moline.

An injured man was pulled out of the Rock River in Moline.

On Saturday, August 3, 2013, around 3 p.m., a man who police say is about 50-years-old, was unconscious when crews rescued him from roughly knee-deep water.

Officials are not sure how the man got into the water, but the Department of Natural Resources is investigating.

The man was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The DNR officer on scene said it is important to be aware of your surroundings in the river.

“Even if you’re not coming into shallow water, you need to be familiar with the area that you’re going to be getting out of the boat into the water,” said Anthony Petreikis, a conservation police officer.

The Rock Island Sheriff’s Department and the Moline Police Department were both on the scene.
