Two isolated accidents on Route 5 in East Moline caused traffic to be rerouted.
Two vehicles collided in the late afternoon on Thursday, August 1, 2013 on Route 5 near Morton Drive.
According to Sgt. Jeff Ramsey, a truck construction trailer collided with a pick-up truck in the westbound lanes, causing a lot of debris to spill onto the roadway.
A second accident occurred shortly after the first, this time in the eastbound lanes. Ramsey said that crash involved a semi-truck and another vehicle.
Two people, one from each crash, were taken to area hospitals, officials say.
An investigation is being conducted.
