Bettendorf water restored; boil order still in effect

Two hundred and fifty Iowa American Water customers, in Bettendorf, are without water as crews work to fix a water main break.

All water in Bettendorf has been restored for 250 customers affected by the water valve repairs, according to a spokesperson from American Water.

Crews finished repairs and turned the water back on around 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 1.

The water can be used for showering and other household uses, but if you are drinking it or cooking with it, the water needs to be boiled. The boil advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. on Friday.

Water is expected to be restored around 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, according to a spokesperson from American Water.

Crews finished emergency repairs to the 16-inch valve on Tanglefoot Lane overnight.

Workers are currently replacing another valve at the intersection of Tanglefoot Lane and 29th Street. This valve was the one originally being worked on when the 16-inch valve broke, causing crews to shift their attention to that one.

The boil advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Friday.

250 Iowa American Water customers, in Bettendorf, are without water as crews work to fix two water valve breaks. Crews are working to fix a 16-inch water main valve on Tanglefoot Lane near Eastwood Court. Crews on scene tell us the break happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews are also on scene of a water valve break that happened Saturday. That break is just to the west of Eastwood Court on Tanglefoot Lane.

Work has continued through the overnight hours. Once water service is restored for those affected, a precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect until 5 PM Friday, August 2nd.

Customers in the following locations are affected:

  • Asbury Street. and Tanglefoot Lane to New Lexington Dr.
  • Cedarwood Ct., south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • East Wood Ct., south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • Cedarview Ct., south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • Maplewood Drive, south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • Willowood Drive south of Tanglefoot Lane
  • 29th Street south from Tanglefoot Lane to Sunburst Drive (Residents on Sunburst Drive are not affected.)
  • Dawn Court
  • Glenview Drive
  • Tanglefoot Lane from Devils Glen Road to Rollingwood Ct

According to the Iowa American Water news release, customers affected by the precautionary boil advisory should bring any water used for consumption to a rolling boil for one minute before using for drinking or cooking.
