News 8 taking school supplies for First Day Project

News 8 will be collecting school supplies Tuesday outside of our studios. It's all part of the First Day Project for the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.

News 8 is looking for colored pencils, pens, pencils, and anything else you can think of. To see a full list of the items, click here.

The First Day Project is for students on both sides of the river. Anyone who drops off school supplies Tuesday gets a coupon to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus that starts Friday, Aug. 30th at the i-Wireless Center.

News 8 will be collecting school supplies outside until 7 p.m. Tuesday. News 8 is located at 3003 Park 16th Street in Moline.

If you can't donate in person, you can donate online, or by writing a check. Please write your check to: the First Day Project c/o the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend. Their address is 852 Middle Road, Suite 100, Bettendorf, IA 52722.

This Saturday, Iowa parents can also drop off school supplies outside of their mailboxes. Your postal carrier is supposed to pick them up Saturday. Just put them in a bag near your mailbox.
