Fire damages homes in East Moline

The Red Cross worked to help residents of two East Moline homes displaced by an early-morning fire.

The fire was reported at a home in the 1300 block of East 17th Street just before 7 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013.

Firefighters said all three people inside the home at the time of the fire were able to get out safely.  The house was considered a total loss.

One of the residents of the home said he heard a popping noise inside the  home at the time of the fire.

Flames and smoke damaged a neighboring home as well.

No injuries were immediately reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
