A non-profit organization specializing in therapeutic horseback rides gave special needs riders in the Quad City area a chance to enjoy a day of riding and activities.

The New Kingdom Trailriders (NKT) held its Summer Fest at Schone’s Friendship Farm in Milan, Illinois on Saturday, July 27, 2013.

The day consisted of a Horse Show, featuring the group’s 2013 riders and a demonstration from the riders showing off the skills and lessons they’ve learned from the season.

Food, games, bounces houses, and pony rides were available to family, friends, and the community.

According to the organization’s website, since 1985 NKT has been offering riding lessons to those with mental and physical disabilities, various accident related injuries, and learning disabilities as well.
