Couple married for 75 years die one day apart

A husband and wife who shared the same birth date and 75 years of marriage died just one day apart.

At age 94, the California couple passed away in mid-July of 2013. Helen Brown died on Tuesday, July 16 and Les Brown on Wednesday, July 17, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

According to the report, the two met in high school, and eloped in 1937. Someone who knew the couple said they were active, “fun-loving and beautiful people.”

The couple’s oldest son, Les Brown Jr. said that his parents were Jehovah’s Witnesses, and relied on religion to strengthen their marriage.

Les Brown was suffering from Parkinson’s disease at the time of his passing; Helen Brown was battling stomach cancer.

“It was a real love match,” said Les Brown Jr. “They were together every day for 75 years.”
