Bix racers enjoyed temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s on Saturday, and local businesses enjoyed the economy boost the weekend brought.

The 39th annual Bix 7 took place on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Davenport, Iowa. Thousands of runners and supporters filled the streets at 8 a.m. for the race.

Surrounding the event, was the Street Fest that brings people to the Quad Cities for fun, food, and entertainment.

Community leaders call the Bix one of the main events of the summer. It is estimated that several million dollars are spent in the Quad Cities during the Bix weekend.

“They use hotel rooms, they’ll be eating in restaurants, there are other goods and services that are purchased,” said the President and CEO of Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, Joe Taylor. “So besides being just fun and a wonderful sporting event, it is a true economic impact to the Quad Cities.”

The Street Fest continues on until midnight on Saturday, July 27.
