The Bix 7 race is Saturday morning, but plenty of people were out in downtown Davenport Friday night for Street Fest.
At 6 p.m. on Friday, crawlers, walkers, and runners participated in the Junior Bix.
“Well we gotta work on our figure, but I think he’s going to be very athletic,” said Heather Vanhyning, the mother of a 9-month-old who participated in the Junior Bix.
Some kids were not so happy with the race, others were just eager to cross the finish line, but both drew a big crowd. The crowds were also gathering at the 42nd annual Street Fest in downtown Davenport.
Some were there for the first time, others were Street Fest regulars.
“Just excited to come down, and enjoy the city and the festivities and the food of course, gotta get something unhealthy to eat,” said Jennifer Wolf.
“It’s a great show, lots of music, lots of people out here,” said Michael Fowler.
Many people were dancing to music at Street Fest. Wicked Liz and the Belly Swirls, was just one of many bands that will play Friday and Saturday.
And what’s Street Fest without food? Lots of different vendors were at Street Fest serving items such as corn dogs, funnel cakes, lemonade, and gyros.
Because food keeps people moving, whether it’s running, walking, or crawling.
Bands start playing Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and activities last until Midnight on Saturday. There is a family fun area, arts and crafts, video games, and many more activities.
