A canvas, designed to show support for the 2013 Boston marathon bombing victims and their families is traveling across the country, making its way to Davenport at the Bix 7 Expo.
The National Prayer Canvas: America 4 Boston started in May. Its purpose was to offer prayers and positivity for the City of Boston. The creator of the canvas, Kari Wagner, was a Quad City television news anchor and reporter, formerly employed at WHBF.
The canvas had its launch in Florida, and then went on to North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, and Colorado. All the while, it collected hopeful messages and positive thoughts for the residents of Boston.
On Thursday and Friday, July 25 and 26, the National Prayer Canvas is on display in the River Center South Hall at 136 East Third Street in Davenport.
The public is invited to add their thoughts and prayers to the canvas. Anyone age six and older can participate.
On Thursday it is on display from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
On the anniversary of the bombings, the canvas will be presented to the City of Boston. Each victim will receive a mounted portion of the canvas. The rest of the piece is expected to be hung in a city building as a memorial to all who were impacted that day.
