One man died and others were injured after a head-on crash in Carroll County, Illinois.
According to the Illinois State Police, on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 around 1 p.m., a vehicle operated by a 17-year-old from Mt. Carroll, was headed westbound on Illinois Route 64 near Getz Road, when it entered the eastbound lane, hitting another vehicle head-on.
Police said they do not know what caused the driver to enter the opposite lane.
Driving the eastbound vehicle was 65-year-old John McNamara of Savanna, who police say, died as a result of the crash. Passengers inside the car were taken to area hospitals.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was also injured and taken to a hospital in Clinton, Iowa.
Officials say the accident is still under investigation by state police crash reconstructionists and by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office.
