Demonstrators greet presidential motorcade

All the demonstrators say when the motorcade drove by, they hoped the president took notice.

The Rock Island County Young Republicans and members of the group Americans For Prosperity gathered along the motorcade route in peaceful protest.  The NSA scandal and the president's economic policies were their main focuses.

David from says he hopes the president’s visit will shine some light on the current conditions in Illinois

“His home state has the 2nd highest unemployment of any state in the nation and I think that is very telling because those are the policies that he brought to Washington and we disagree with those,” From says.

For college student David Gertie, he says his concerns with President Obama’s policies are personal.

“I am a young student and I am going to have a lot of debt coming out of grad school,” Gertie says.  “I don’t want to have to be in even more debt from the government spending, I don’t want to think about my kids paying that off, let alone myself.”

All the demonstrators say when the motorcade drove by, they hoped the president took notice.

“I hope he saw a lot of concerned people in middle America who want to move away from the big government big spending policies,” From says.

The Young Republicans of Rock Island County will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 at the Rock Island County Republican Headquarters at 1721 5th Ave., Ste. 100, in Moline.
