The John Deere Pavilion played host to hundreds of kids for a day of play and discovery.

The 6th annual John Deere Learn and Play Day was on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Over 700 children showed up to learn about companies in the Quad Cities, what it’s like to be a worker in farming, construction or forestry.

A remote-controlled tractor course and a pedal tractor pull was a fun activity for the beautiful day.

“They’re having a great time and learning at the same time as well,” said the assistant manager at the John Deere Pavilion, Kristen Veto. “We have a gator course, we have a sandbox where they can do some construction things and play in the sand.”

Veto also said kids could enjoy a pseudo farm complete with stations for different aspects of farming. At the end of it all, they got a John Deere hat.

The free event turned out nearly 150 more participants than in 2012.
