The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking for photo submissions from Henry and Des Moines Counties.

These counties are on a list of dozens of counties in Iowa that have received no submissions for the Healthy & Happy Outdoors photo contest. The winning photo from each county will be placed into a statewide “photo quilt” and displayed at the DNR building during the Iowa State Fair as part of the DNR’s Healthy & Happy Outdoors initiative.

Photos should represent how Iowans enjoy time outdoors, whether it be camping, fishing, birdwatching, hiking, and more. One photographer from each county will win a one-year subscription to Iowa Outdoors magazine.

Submissions are now due by July 22 and can be sent to photos@dnr.iowa.gov. The photos should be 5-inches x 7-inches with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Include your name, phone number, and where the photo was taken.

All submitted photos will be posted on the DNR’s Pinterest page at www.pinterest.com/iowadnr.
