Police: Burlington woman stabbed man in neck

Burlington Police said a woman told them she fought back against her boyfriend strangling her by stabbing him in the neck.

Officers were sent to a home in the 2400 block of Valley just after 1:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 after someone reported a 28-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck.

Police said the man was allegedly using both hands to strangle his girlfriend to the point that she could not breathe.  The woman told police she was able to reach for a knife which she swung toward the man.  The knife hit him in the neck.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he was expected to undergo surgery.

Police said criminal charges were pending.
