The 2013 Heartland Jam Music Festival begins Friday at Centennial Park in Davenport.

Country music star Darius Rucker headlines the show Friday night at 10. He's the first African-American to win a new artist award from the Country Music Association.

Before Darius plays, former American Idol star Kellie Pickler will take the stage. Pickler also won the trophy this year on Dancing with the Stars. Organizers say these big time names like playing in these type of events.

"All the proceeds go to the University of Iowa's Burn Unit for Children, so they like the event." festival producer Michael Arp said. "It's not too tough actually."

The music starts at 2 p.m. Friday. Workers are asking people to park under the Centennial Bridge right across the street from Modern Woodmen Park.

General Admission costs $55 a day, but a two-day pass costs just $65. Rodney Atikins headlines the show Saturday night at 10.
