A young boy was found after being reported missing near the Cimco Recycling facility in Whiteside County.

Initial reports indicated police planned to restrict traffic along Route 2 as they search for a 10-year-old boy.  The boy is reportedly autistic and vanished early Friday afternoon, July 19, 2013.  Initial reports indicated the boy was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and shorts.

Searchers were combing a corn field and the area near the Cimco facility.

A local man said he was in the area hoping to help search for the boy, and the search seemed concentrated on the west side of the road.  When he looked to the east side of the road the missing boy emerged about 100 yards from where emergency vehicles were parked, near the driveway of Cochran’s Pub on Galt Road.

He said the boy did not appear to be injured, and he did not appear to be aware that he was lost.  Medical crews were evaluating him at the search site.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Dept. Sgt. Kristopher Schmidt said the boy was taken by ambulance to be checked out at a local hospital.

The boy was reunited with his family at about 4 p.m.  Another witness said the search had lasted about an hour and a half before the boy was found.
