Autopsy: Woman found in river died by drowning

Preliminary autopsy results indicate a woman whose body was found in the Mississippi River died by drowning.

A bicyclist found the body of Jennifer Cooney, 29, of Davenport on Friday, July 12, 2013.

Police said Cooney’s body was found about 200 yards downstream from the Crescent Bridge.

An autopsy was performed in Iowa City, Iowa.

A statement from Davenport Police said Cooney did not appear to have suffered any injuries, “indicating the death to be either accidental or suicidal.”
