Davenport officials are eliminating convenience fees charged for credit card payments to the City of Davenport.

Residents can use a credit card to make utility, parking ticket, rental licenses  and certain other payments to the city online and in person.   Those payments have also incurred convenience fees of an additional $2 to $6 per transaction.

A statement from Davenport Finance Director Brandon Wright said those extra convenience fees are now a thing of the past.

Davenport accepts payments online, at City Hall, at Public Works, by mail and through an Automatic Clearing House (ACH) program which automatically deducts a payment from a customer’s bank account on the due date.

Wright says he thinks the ability to make credit card payments without the convenience fees will encourage more people to take advantage of online and ACH payment options.
