Prosecutors said an Atalissa, Iowa firefighter pleaded guilty to charging more than $2,000 to a department credit card for personal expenses.

Brandon Vandusen, 42, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft in Muscatine County Court on Friday, July 12, 2013.  Vandusen was charged in April 2013. He was a volunteer member of the Atalissa Fire Department.

Investigators said Vandusen “misused a fuel charge card owned by the Atalissa Fire Department by charging approximately $2,100 against the card for personal purchases,” said a statement from Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren.

Court records show the charges occurred between November 2012 and January 2013.

Vandusen was scheduled to be sentenced August 23, 2013.
