Golf analyst notes qualities of JDC course

Golf analyst, David Feherty came to the Quad Cities for the John Deere Classic, dubbing Deere Run as one of the most interesting courses out there.

Golf analyst and retired professional golfer, David Feherty came to the Quad Cities for the John Deere Classic.

Feherty, who works for CBS Sports, said Deere Run is one of the more interesting courses out there. He said it’s challenging but still a player-friendly course.

“Some [courses] are a little tough for the average player,” said Feherty. “This is a great test for the pros and it’s the sort of golf course where average players can have a good time.”

The Northern Ireland native noted the community support that the John Deere Classic receives.

“People support this tournament really unlike any other,” he said. “You see it coming back through the charitable giving. It’s astonishing for a small market like this.”

Feherty said he is excited to see David Duval play this year.

“I’ve got a sneaking suspicion he’s going to have fun this week,” he predicted. “I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of David Duval.”

Feherty retired from professional golf in 1997.
